Market Intelligence - Equities

African stock markets closed the week generally higher than the previous week. The stock markets in Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia and Uganda recorded gains of up to 5%. However, South Africa’s JSE registered a loss of 1% over the week.

Currency Focus

Morocco: The All Share Index rose by 5% over the week, as blue chip firms such as Attijariwafa Bank and Maroc Telecom attracted investors.

South Africa: After six consecutive weekly gains, the All Share Index fell by 1% over the week, probably due to profit-taking by investors.
