Industry Focus - Tourism

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) expects tourism revenues to hit USD 203 million in 2010. About 10% of the receipts will come from a new focus on bird tourism. The latest data from RDB indicated that during the first half of 2009 the country attracted some 440,000 visitors, up by 7% from the same period last year, earning over USD 92 million. Visitors for business, accounting for roughly half of the total arrivals of the period, are also expected to grow in 2010. RDB also reported that Dubai World's two major projects in the country- the Gorilla's Nest and Nyungwe Eco Forest Lodge - would go forward despite the Dubai debt crisis.
