Djibouti Emerges as a Trade Gateway

Under the private sector window, the AfDB Board approved an US$ 80 million senior loan to finance the Doraleh Container Terminal (DCT) Project in Djibouti. The project involves the construction of a new terminal at Doraleh deep sea port capable of accommodating huge merchant ships under a 30-year Concession Agreement awarded to DCT. The project is illustrative of Djibouti's emergence as a key trade gateway for the member nations of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). Click here to read more.
